History of BSWI Planning Issues

The April 2013 Preparation Plan for the BSWI RMP identified preliminary issues on page 6. This document is available on the "Documents and Reports" link at the left. These issues were refined during the Public Scoping Period.

The May 2014 Scoping Summary and Report identified 27 issue categories, all covered under the Issue Summary section of the report. This document is available on the "Documents and Reports" link at the left. These issues informed the Preliminary Alternative Concepts Shared during the 2015 Preliminary Alternatives Public Outreach Period.

The August 2015 Preliminary Alternatives Public Comment Summary Report identified 33 issue categories, all covered under the Issue Summary section of the report. This document is available on the "Documents and Reports" link at the left. These issues have informed development of the BSWI Draft RMP/EIS.   

The September 2020 Draft RMP/EIS Public Comment Summary Report summarized 12 comment and response areas, all outlined under section 3.3 of the report. This document is available on the "Documents and Reports" link at the left. 

The January 2021 Protest Resolution Report summarizes the 14 protests received and analyzes and responds to the issues from 11 valid protests, pursuant to  43 CFR 1610.5-2. The Secretary of the Interior's decisions on the protests are summarized in the Bering Sea–Western Interior Proposed RMP Amendment/Final EIS Protest Resolution Report, which is available under the “Documents” link on this website as well as - https://www.blm.gov/programs/planning-and-nepa/public-participation/protest-resolution-reports
