Ormat Nevada, Inc. (Ormat) submitted the Lone Mountain Geothermal Exploration Project Operations Plan and the Pearl Geothermal Exploration Project Operations to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Battle Mountain District Office, Tonopah Field Office. The Plans propose drilling and testing of geothermal wells, development of aggregate pits, construction of new access roads, and improvements of existing roads at the Lone Mountain and Pearl Projects.  The Pearl Project additionally proposed improving approximately 2,009 feet of existing road outside of Ormat’s lease holdings to access well sites and a right-of-way was prepared for this proposal.

The BLM evaluated the Plans and Plan of Development and prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA), DOI-BLMNV-B020-2022-0038-EA, that analyzed the affected environment and environmental impacts for the Projects and identified applicant-committed environmental protection measures (EPMs) associated with the Projects. A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and a Decision Record were signed on March 15, 2023.
