The Bureau of Land Managment (BLM) announces the availability of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and the Record of Decision (ROD) for the Warrior Met Coal Mines EIS. The following categories have been added to the documents tab:

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announces the availability of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Warrior Met Coal Mines EIS. The DEIS and associated documents are now available for public review under the "Documents" tab to the left.
The BLM will also hold one in-person public hearing on the date, time, and location listed below. The BLM will be seeking any comments related to the DEIS, Fair Market Value (FMV), and Maximum Economic Recovery (MER), and on factors that may affect the FMV and MER determinations of the coal resources contained in the proposed Lease by Application Lease Tracts.

In-Person: Tuesday, June 24, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. (CT).

The BLM is seeking public input on the proposed project. Comments are encouraged to be submitted regarding the DEIS, FMV, MER, and on factors that may affect the FMV and MER Determinations. The comment period will end on July 21, 2025. The public may comment through any of the following methods:

Please Note: The Public Comment Period is set to open on June 6, 2025, and comments will be accepted for a period of 45 days ending on July 21, 2025. The website will be updated accordingly on June 6th to allow for submittal of comments.
Additionally, the Project Description has been updated to reflect more accurate acreage calculations and estimated recoverable Federal coal. The original numbers were as follows:
- Mine No.4 - 5,720 acres, 24 million short tons
- Blue Creek Mine No. 1 - 8,320 acres, 33.5 million short tons
- Combined - 14,040 acres
The numbers are now updated in the Project Description.

End of Public Scoping Period:
The Public Scoping period concluded on May 30, 2024; a total of 50 comments were submitted. A report containing these comments has been uploaded in the "Documents" section of this website and have been placed in the "End of Public Scoping" category. In addition, any attachments that were submitted in conjunction with a comment have been uploaded into this section as well. The report will identify which attachments are relevant for each comment. The BLM is reviewing comments that have been submitted and will take these into consideration as the Draft EIS is prepared.
Next Steps:
The BLM is proceeding with the preparation of the Draft EIS. The BLM will continue to provide opportunities for public involvement, as that information becomes available this website will continue to be updated.
