What kinds of public comments are useful?
Comments specific to the environmental analysis are the most useful. A substantive comment provides new information about the Proposed Action, an alternative or the analysis; identifies a different way to meet the need; points out a specific flaw in the analysis; suggests alternate methodologies and the reason(s) why they should be used; makes factual corrections, or identifies a different source of credible research which, if used in the analysis, could result in different effects. Comments that are not considered substantive are those that do not pertain to the decision area; feedback that is not relevant to the purpose and need, or proposed action and the alternative; expressions of opinion without reason or rationale; vague open-ended questions; and submissions in favor or against the proposed action without justification or supporting data.
BLM held two virtual informational sessions where the public had an opportunity to learn more about the draft supplemental environmental assessment and ask questions. The sessions occurred Monday, April 8 and Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 6-8 p.m. ET. Each session started with a brief presentation by BLM staff.
Recordings of both virtual information sessions can be accessed by clicking the "Documents" link on the left side of this page.
