Timeline

- April 24, 2017

    The BLM issues the project initiation letter for the Hult Reservoir and Dam Safety EIS.

- March 19, 2018

    The BLM held a public open house at the Blachly Grange to discuss the upcoming Hult Reservoir and Dam Safety EIS.

- May 1, 2018

    The original Notice of Intent to Prepare a Hult Reservoir and Dam Safety EIS was published in the Federal Register.

- June 14, 2018

    The BLM held a public meeting at Hult Reservoir.

- August 2018

    The BLM identified missing information required for analysis of the Hult Reservoir and Dam Safety EIS. The project was placed on hold until the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers could complete their preliminary alternatives analysis report.

- 2021

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed their preliminary alternatives report, the BLM has adjusted its purpose and need for the EIS based on this report, and is rescoping the EIS based on this adjustment.

- September 16, 2021

    The BLM held a public field trip at Hult Reservoir to inform the public on these changes and to solicit feedback on removal/decommissioning of the Dam and what recreation opportunities the community would like to see in the footprint of Hult Reservoir. 

- December 30, 2021

    The Notice of Intent to Prepare a Hult Reservoir and Dam Safety EIS was published in the Federal Register, starting a 30-day public scoping period for the EIS.

- May 2-June 5, 2022

    Five week public comment comment period on Chapters 1 (purpose and need) and 2 (alternatives) of the Hult Dam Safety EIS. Includes a public open house on May 4th from 4-7 pm at Triangle Lake School (Blachly).

- October 20-December 7, 2023

    45-day public comment period on the Hult Dam Safety Draft EIS. Includes a virtual public meeting on November 15th from 6-7 and a public open house on November 17th from 5-7 pm at Triangle Lake School (Blachly).

-July 25, 2024

The final EIS and NOA are now available on the Federal Register
