9/13/2024: The Bureau of Land Management Kingman Field Office issued a Finding of No Significant Impacts (FONSI) and a Decision Record approving the Proposed Action (Alternative A), to implement gather and fertility control in the Big Sandy, Alamo, and Lake Havasu Herd Management Areas (also called the Three Rivers Complex). The 30-day administrative appeal period ended October 14, 2024.
======
The BLM prepared an environmental assessment (EA) for the Big Sandy, Alamo, and
Lake Havasu Herd Management Areas Wild Burro Gather and Population Control Plan
located on approximately 955,000 acres of public, state, and private lands
in Mohave, Yavapai, and La Paz Counties in northwestern Arizona. The EA
includes analysis of four action alternatives and a no action alternative. The
action alternatives describe different options to, over the next 10 years,
remove excess wild burros, achieve and maintain the established appropriate
management levels, and implement fertility control for wild burros on lands
within and near the Big Sandy, Alamo, and Lake Havasu Herd Management Areas,
also referred to as the Three Rivers Complex.
This EA discloses and analyzes the potential environmental
consequences of each of the action alternatives and the no action alternative
to determine whether any significant impacts could result from implementation of
the proposed alternatives.
Thank you for your continued interest in public land management within the Kingman and Lake Havasu Field Offices.
