Great Basin Region Greater Sage-Grouse Planning Strategy
For the purposes of this planning effort, the Great Basin Region is divided into four sub-regions: Nevada and Northeastern California; Oregon; Idaho and Southwestern Montana; and Utah. Each sub-region has undertaken an EIS covering its territory. All of the Sub-Regions, except Oregon, are also amending the associated Forest Service Plans. Each sub-region-specific EIS has its own strategy to address sagebrush issues and addresses the impacts of amending all pertinent RMPs with that guidance. The Record of Decision, which comes at the end of the EIS process, will amend the RMPs and Forest Plans to include the new management direction.
Nevada and Northeastern California Sub Region

The Nevada and Northeastern California Sub-region encompasses the Elko, Winnemucca, Carson City, Ely, and Battle Mountain Districts in Nevada, the Eagle Lake, Alturas, and Surprise Field Offices in the Northern California District, and the USFS Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. A map of the Nevada and Northeastern California Planning Area is available through the Maps link on the left side of this page.
