Project Description

The proposed action involves Scorpio Energy Center LLC conducting a short‑term geotechnical investigation on BLM‑managed land in Lyon County, Nevada, to support the design of the future Scorpio Energy Center Project. The work includes geologic site reconnaissance, drilling three exploratory borings, performing up to five cone penetration tests (CPTs), conducting three refraction microtremor (ReMi) surveys, and installing up to two groundwater test wells. These activities will produce approximately 1.72 acres of temporary surface disturbance and will occur mostly off existing roads, with all areas restored once work is complete. The purpose of the work is to gather essential subsurface, groundwater, and geologic information needed for engineering design of the proposed power plant and associated facilities. Field activities will take about 30 days to complete and may begin as soon as the right‑of‑way authorization is approved or any time within two years after BLM approval. The data collected will inform soil stability, groundwater conditions, seismic parameters, and foundation design requirements, ensuring the project is planned and constructed safely and effectively.
