Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Begins Public Scoping Period on the 2026 Integrated Invasive Plant Management Environmental Assessment
On December 15, 2025, the BLM Prineville District initiated the public scoping period for the 2026 Integrated Invasive Plant Management Environmental Assessment. The environmental assessment will update the Prineville District’s existing integrated invasive plant management plan. The BLM is initiating scoping, a process by which the BLM solicits internal and external input on the issues, impacts, and potential alternatives that would be addressed in the invasive plant management environmental assessment. The scoping letter and a map can be accessed at the "documents" and "maps" tabs on the left side of the screen.
The Prineville District is proposing to update and expand the integrated invasive plant management program by:
- Adding ten additional herbicide active ingredients (aminocyclopyrachlor, aminopyralid, clethodim, fluazifop-P-butyl, flumioxazin, fluroxypyr, imazamox, indaziflam, oryzalin, and rimsulfuron) to the list of herbicides available for use on the Prineville District for invasive plant management;
- Including the use of new technology such as drones for aerial applications and monitoring; and
- Updating the proposed treatment acres from the existing Prineville Integrated Invasive Plant Management EA to include the areas on which the new herbicides would be used in conjunction with the existing herbicides and integrated invasive plant management.
