April 3, 2026, UPDATE: The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed Castle Mountain Mine Phase II Expansion Project will be available for public review starting April 17. Further details on how to access the Draft EIS and submit comments will be provided once the document becomes available.
January 23, 2026: Visual simulations for the Castle Mountain Mine Phase 2 Expansion Project have been produced using current photography, 3d modelling, survey, and terrain data. While these simulations show visual impact from each key observation point (KOP), changes to the final site layout, vegetation screening or facility specifications may result in different visual effects on the project is constructed. The KOPs may be accessed in the “Related Projects & Links” section.
January 13, 2026: The scoping report summarizes the public scoping process and comments received during the joint NEPA/CEQA scoping period, conducted in accordance with federal and state public involvement requirements. This document may be accessed by clicking "Documents" in the Dashboard at the top of this screen and then clicking on the documents under the headings titled "Scoping Report".
November 13, 2025: The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), in coordination with San Bernardino County Land Use Services Department (County) and Castle Mountain Venture (CMV), has developed an informational presentation to provide an overview of the project and details regarding the scoping period. This presentation is posted under "Documents".
October 17, 2025: The public scoping-comment period ended on November 20, 2025.
Public Review
To increase public understanding of the project and meet the requirements of the regulations at 43 CFR § 3809, the BLM has published the proposed Plan of Operations modification on this website.
