Project Description

The BLM is planning to offer 1 Expression of Interest (EOI) on Department of Defense land on Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier Parish, which will be analyzed in a Determination of NEPA Adequacy (DNA), on the March 2027 oil and gas lease sale. Previous analysis was done on Barksdale Air Force Base  in 2025, adjacent to this parcel, in an Environmental Assessment (EA), DOI-BLM-Eastern States-J000-2025-0003-EA, https://eplanning.blm.gov/Project-Home/?id=ED3035E9-A7F2-F011-8407-001DD803D7D3. You can view the previous EA, Finding of No Significant Impact, and Decision Record in the Documents tab.

An additional 6 EOIs on split estate on private land, which are also being offered for the oil and gas lease sale, are being analyzed in a separate Environmental Assessment (EA), DOI-BLM-Eastern States-J000-2026-0013-EA, as well as an additional 5 EOIs on U.S. Forest Service land within the Conecuh National Forest in southern Alabama (DOI-BLM-Eastern States-J000-2026-0015-DNA).

What's New

The BLM's Southeastern States District Office received no scoping comments on the Expression of Interest on the Barksdale Air Force Base. The next opportunity for the public to comment will be for the public comment period in early November.
