The NEPA has been completed. The signed Decision and FONSI and EA and Appendices for public lands nominated for geothermal lease to be offered at the 2025 Geothermal Competitive Lease Sale scheduled for December 2025 have been posted under the "documents" tab.
Responsible energy development includes thoughtful consideration of parcels nominated for leasing as well as the potential resource impacts of decisions to lease. The act of leasing does not authorize any development or the use of the surface of leased lands without further application by the operator and approval by the BLM. Additional site-specific environmental review will take place upon the submission of proposals for exploration, development and exploration.

BLM approves parcels for geothermal leasing in southern Idaho
BOISE, Idaho —The Bureau of Land Management Idaho State Office has issued decisions to offer 13 parcels for competitive geothermal lease in southern Idaho, subject to appropriate stipulations to protect natural resource values. These parcels encompass approximately 51,048 acres in Owyhee County. These parcels will be offered during a competitive geothermal lease sale on Dec. 16, 2025. The environmental assessments evaluated potential impacts from geothermal leasing and included opportunities for public input.
