Project Description

The Proposed Action is the partial transfer of a coal lease from Peabody Southeast Mining, LLC (PSM), to Warrior Met Coal, Inc. The portion of the Federal Coal Lease ALES 044853 being requested for transfer represents 160 acres, more or less, with an estimated 746,457 short tons of saleable coal that is located in Jefferson County, Alabama. The total anticipated recoverable short tons for this application were quantified based upon calculating each quarter-quarter as forty acres and utilizing the average Blue Creek coal seam thickness of 33.44 inches. PSM will retain the remaining 1,449.5 acres, more or less, within the Federal Coal Lease ALES 044863 as part of their Shoal Creek Mine operations. As such, the retained portion of the federal coal lease will keep the original serial number as per 43 CFR § 3453.2-5. Furthermore, the newly segregated lease transferred to WMC will be assigned a new serial number and shall contain the same terms and conditions as the original lease
