1/6/2025: The Record of Decision (ROD) for the GSENM Approved RMP was approved and signed on January 6, 2025. It can be viewed in the documents tab or you can visit the GSENM RMP webpage to learn more about the plan. The Protest Resolution Report can be viewed on the BLM's website. The Notice of Availability (NOA) for the ROD/Approved RMP will be published in the Federal Register on Monday, January 13, 2025.
8/30/2024: The Bureau of Land Management created a webpage providing another method to learn about the proposed plan and this planning process. The website can be found on the BLM's website.
8/29/2024: The Bureau of Land Management today released its proposed Resource Management Plan (RMP) and Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. A Notice of Availability will publish in tomorrow's (8/30/24) Federal Register. This opens a 60-day Governor of Utah consistency review and a 30-day protest period which closes September 30, 2024. Instructions for filing a protest are available at the BLM Filing a Plan Protest website.
11/1/2023: The BLM held the last public engagement meeting in virtually on 10/25/2023. A copy of the video recording, audio recording, transcript and closed captions have been posted in the documents section on ePlanning. Written public comments must be received by November 9, 2023 (comment form available in the Documents tab).
9/22/2023: The BLM held the second (first in person) public engagement meeting in Escalante, UT on 9/20/2023. A copy of the posters and brochure has been posted in the documents section on ePlanning. See below for the remaining upcoming meeting dates and locations.

08/11/23: Federal Register: Notice of Availability of the Draft Resource Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement for the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Utah
The Bureau of Land Management today published a Notice of Availability and opened a 90-day public comment period for the Draft Resource Management Plan (RMP) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, which would replace the existing 2020 Record of Decision and Approved Resource Management Plans for the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and 2020 Record of Decision and Approved Resource Management Plan for the Kanab-Escalante Planning Area. The draft RMP and EIS includes consideration for proposed areas of critical environmental concern and recreational target shooting closures.
The
BLM is seeking public review and comments from interested and affected parties
concerning the draft Environmental Impact Statement. Multiple opportunities are
available for interested stakeholders or members of the public to learn about
the planning process, submit comments, and ask questions. The public can review
a hard copy of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement at the Paria River
District Office (address below).
The BLM invites members of the public to attend virtual public
engagement meetings via the Zoom web platform. Participants must register in
order to attend. Upon registration, an email containing a unique link to join
the meeting will be provided. Virtual public scoping meetings are scheduled on
the following dates:
