8/13/2025: The Notice of Intent to Prepare an Environmental Impact Statement for the Proposed South Railroad Mine Project published in the Federal Register today. This Notice announces the beginning of the scoping process to solicit public comments. The BLM requests that the public submit comments concerning the scope of the analysis, potential alternatives, and identification of relevant information, and studies by September 18, 2025. Public meetings will be held September 3, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. PST and again on the same date from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. PST at the California Trail Center, 1 Interpretive Center Way, Elko, NV 89801.
Scoping comments must be submitted in writing. You may submit your scoping comments by 1) clicking "Participate Now" on the left hand side of this screen and entering your comments or uploading attachments; 2) emailing your comments to [email protected]; or 3) mailing your comments to: BLM Tuscarora Field Office, Attn: South Railroad EIS, 3900 East Idaho Street, Elko, NV 89801. Comments will be accepted through September 18, 2025.
To increase public understanding of the project and meet the requirements of the regulations at 43 CFR § 3809, the BLM has published the Plan of Operations on this website. This document may be accessed by clicking "Documents" in the Dashboard on the left hand side of this screen and then clicking on the documents under the headings titled "Plan of Operations" and "Plan of Operations Appendixes."
