Project Description

Elisabeth Solar, LLC proposes to construct, own, and operate a utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) energy generating and battery storage facility on public lands administered by the BLM in the Agua Caliente Solar Energy Zone (SEZ) in compliance with the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA), BLM right-of-way regulations, and other applicable federal laws. The BLM Arizona State Office accepted competitive bids to lease public lands, including those within the approximately 2,300-acre Agua Caliente SEZ, for solar energy projects through an auction held on December 8, 2021. Elisabeth Solar, LLC was the successful bidder on the Agua Caliente SEZ and subsequently entered into a lease with the BLM to develop the proposed Elisabeth Solar Project within the SEZ.

The Project is located in eastern Yuma County near Dateland, Arizona, approximately 65 miles northeast of the city of Yuma and 60 miles southwest of Buckeye (Figure 1, Project Location Map). The Project has a planned nominal generating capacity of up to 270 megawatts alternating current (MWAC) and up to 300 MW of battery storage. The Project would be developed on approximately 1,411 acres within the western portion of the Agua Caliente SEZ leasehold which is adjacent to the existing Agua Caliente Solar Project and the White Wing Ranch Solar Project currently under construction.

What's New

The Final Environmental Assessment, signed Finding of No Significant Impact, and signed Decision Record are now posted. The BLM has approved the Elisabeth Solar Reduced Grading Alternative, as described in Section 2.3 of the EA.
