Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Eastern States Office (ESO) conducts competitive sales to lease available federal oil and gas parcels underlying public and private lands. An interested party such as a private individual or company may file an Expression of Interest (EOI) to nominate parcels for competitive bid and leasing by the BLM. The BLM ESO has received EOIs nominating one parcel totaling 39.97 acres of federal mineral estate for potential future oil and gas development. A table that identifies the EOI can be found in the “What’s New” section. The nominated parcel is in Monroe County, Ohio. The ESO intends to hold a competitive bid lease sale for these parcels in March 2027.

What's New

Today, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has opened a public scoping period to receive public input on one oil and gas parcel totaling 39.97 acres that may be included in a March 2027 lease sale. The scoping comment period ends at 11:59 pm Mountain time on July 22, 2026. Should you experience any errors or issues while submitting your comment, you may alternatively submit your comment on or before the deadline on July 22, 2026 by email to Donna Charleston at [email protected].

This public scoping period is to solicit comments on the nominated parcel only. This does not include any further action as this is only a nominated parcel that could go up for the BLM lease sale in March 2027.
