Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has prepared this supplemental National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis to provide further analysis of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that may result from the development of certain leases consistent with the WildEarth Guardians v. Haaland lawsuits; impacts to Greater Sage-Grouse and their habitat consistent with the Western Watersheds Project v. Haaland lawsuit; and impacts to other resources, as well as the consideration of new information since the original lease sales. This supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) provides information to assist the BLM in choosing among the alternatives considered to make decisions regarding 1,323 leases that resulted from 12 BLM lease sales between May 2015 and March 2020 (the “subject leases”). The subject leases comprise approximately 1,223,588 acres in Wyoming.

This analysis supplements the analysis provided in the previous NEPA documents supporting the 12 lease sales. The previous EAs, Decision Records, and Findings of No Significant Impacts (FONSI) for the 12 lease sales are listed on BLM’s State Oil and Gas Lease Sale website, which contains detailed information for the lease sales in each field office.
