Project Description

Background
The Outlaw Ridge Timber Management Project was initially developed to address timber management needs within the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) jurisdiction. However, in 2024, the Environmental Assessment (EA) (previously under DOI-BLM-ORWA-N010-2024-0002-EA) for the project was cancelled due to shifting BLM management priorities. 

Project Re-Initiation
The Outlaw Ridge Timber Management Project remains unchanged and aims to provide timber for commercial sale, in order to satisfy the statutory requirements of the Oregon and California Railroad Revested Lands Sustained Yield Management Act of 1937 (O&C Act) and to meet the management direction outlined in the 2016 Northwestern and Coastal Oregon Resource Management Plan (RMP). These actions will include variable-retention regeneration harvest, commercial thinning, and associated timber harvest activities such as snag creation, road work, fuels reduction, and reforestation.

Proposed Actions
The re-initiated project proposes to utilize Variable Retention Harvest (VRH) and commercial thinning treatments across approximately 866 acres of the BLM Harvest Land Base (HLB) Land Use Allocation (LUA).
