Project Description

What's New

September 24, 2025: Bureau of Land Management (BLM) officials are reassessing the off-road vehicle (OHV) route designations within the Labyrinth Rims/Gemini Bridges Travel Management Area (TMA), near Moab. In particular, BLM is reassessing whether certain routes currently designated as closed or limited to OHVs  should be redesignated. The process has and will be informed by agency specialists, cooperating agencies, and the public — including a comment period starting today and ending October 24, 2025.

A map of the Labyrinth Rims/Gemini Bridges TMA, including the routes that BLM has preliminarily identified for re-designation, is available under Maps. BLM officials invite the public to submit further information on the routes currently designated OHV-limited and OHV-closed — including information about the routes’ purpose and need, and resource considerations. BLM requests that, where possible, commenters include specific route numbers in their comments.

A list of routes that BLM has preliminary identified for re-designation is available under Documents.

October 27, 2023: The Moab Field Office has prepared a map of popular open motorized routes on public lands within the Moab Field Office. You may access this map on the BLM.gov website: BLM Moab Field Office Motorized Routes 2023

September 28, 2023: The BLM Moab Field Office announced the Travel Management Plan for the Labyrinth/Gemini Bridges Travel Management Area. The decision, maps, and route information are available under the Documents and Map Data tabs.

Interim Monitoring Report added to Documents page on April 18, 2023.

The Public Comment Period for the project was held from September 7 to October 21, 2022.

The Scoping Period for the project was held from March 23 to April 26, 2021.

The BLM has developed a map with current designated route information (Alternative A) regarding trails, routes and roads within the Labyrinth Rims/Gemini Bridges TMA. An interactive map is available that shows route numbers.
