Project Description
What's New
The Medicine Lodge Resource Management Plan (1985) is now on-line in pdf format.
This is one of four land use plans the Upper Snake Field Office currently operates under in managing 1.8 million acres of public lands. BLM land use plans provide management decisions and guide the actions taken by the BLM in managing Natural, Biological and Cultural Resources and Resource Uses on public lands.
BLM land use plans (LUP) developed prior to the mid-1980s were called Management Framework Plans (MFPs). Since then, new or revised land use plans are referred to as Resource Management Plans (RMP).
RMPs address numerous authorized activities that occur on public lands, including wildlife habitat management, mineral exploration and development, recreation, and livestock grazing. RMPs also provide special protection to unique areas such as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC).
The four Upper Snake Field Office land use plans (3 MFPs and 1 RMP) are currently undergoing revision which will result in one comprehensive RMP upon completion. Information about the ongoing Upper Snake Field Office planning effort can be found at: http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/prog/planning/upper_snake_rmp.html .
