Project Description

This lease sale was held in March 2019. Following the sale, the BLM deferred leasing of parcels from the FFO and RPFO pending additional tribal consultation. In preparing to decide whether to issue the parcels, the BLM has been working to complete tribal consultation, update the NEPA analyses, and respond to protests received.

This environmental assessment (EA) documents the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Rio Puerco Field Office (RPFO) review of two parcels (120 acres) nominated for auction in the BLM RPFO March 2019 Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale (the Proposed Action). It should be noted that the original March 2019 EA considered eight parcels, 3,002.69 acres. The company who was the successful bidder of six parcels (parcels 18-23) relinquished their leases and monies were refunded. These parcels are no longer being considered.
