Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Lakeview Field Office is proposing to authorize the issuance of Special Recreation Permits (SRPs) for commercial and naturalist-led spelunking\cave guiding activities at Derrick Cave. The purpose of this action is to provide safe, guided recreational opportunities for the public, particularly for those lacking the skill or equipment to explore caves independently. Lakeview Field Office would authorize up to two commercial outfitters/guides to operate within Derrick Cave. Authorized use would be limited to no more than four groups of up to 13 clients per day. No more than one group would be permitted to be in the cave at one time. Total use would not exceed 20 authorized use days per year. Commercial guiding will be prohibited November 1 through April 30.
