The BLM completed the regularly scheduled Oil & Gas Competitive Lease Sale on December 3, 2025. However, the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) Act, Pub. L. 119-21, Section 50101(c)(3)(B), states, "The Secretary of the Interior shall conduct a replacement sale during the same fiscal year if [...] (B) during a lease sale under paragraph (1) the percentage of acreage that does not receive a bid is equal to or greater than 25 percent of the acreage offered."
