Project Description

The bentonite mining company American Colloid Company (ACC) has submitted the Radar Plan of Operations seeking approval of their mining operations fifteen miles southeast of Lovell, Wyoming (Figure 1).  This Plan of Operations proposes to add a total of 109.1 acres of disturbance to the existing Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) – Land Quality Division (LQD) Permit 322C located in T. 55 N., R. 93 W., Section 7; and T. 55 N., R. 94 W., Section 12, in Big Horn County, Wyoming, over the life of the operation.  Of the 109.1 acres of proposed mining, approximately 50.2 acres would be located on BLM-managed federal land, 54.7 acres on ACC patented land, and 4.2 acres on Bentonite Performance Minerals (BPM) patented land.
