September 12, 2024 - the public scoping period for the preliminary parcel list and applied stipulations for the proposed Quarter 2 lease sale will be open from September 12 - October 15, 2024. To the extent you submit exhibits or attachments to any submitted public comment, you must provide a summary of the attached documents, and explain why they are important for us to consider. If the submittal fails to include the requested summary, BLM may not consider any information in the exhibits or attachments during its decision-making process.

Listed below is the tentative timeline for the Montana-Dakotas Oil and Gas Lease Sale. All documents associated with this Lease Sale are posted under the documents link on the left hand side of your screen.
The USFS stipulation maps, GIS data, and PDF Maps can be found on the 'Maps' link on the left hand side of the screen.
To submit comments electronically through this site click on the documents link and then click on the "Comment on Document" button on the right hand side of the screen.
*Shapefiles are available however, parcel acreage is most accurately reflected on Appendix A and Sale Notice.
*The comment period has been adjusted (previously November 12th, 2024). The comment period will now begin November 19th, 2024 and end on December 20th, 2024.
*The protest period has been adjusted to begin February 28, 2025.
*Two amendments were issued July 3, 2025. Amendment Notice No. 1 adjusted the Legal Land Descriptions for stipulations on 3 parcels (ND-2025-04-0302, -0303, and -6817). Amendment Notice No. 2 adjusted the royalty rate in a portion of (ND-2025-04-0303).
