Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Moab Field Office (MFO) proposes to remove cobble-rock material from a man-made berm along the Dolores River approximately seven miles downstream from the Utah - Colorado border.      
The Proposed Action would be the second phase of channel restoration treatments at this location, involving similar actions addressed in DOI-BLM-CO-N030-2016-0019-EA and completed in January 2019. The Proposed Action would be identical to phase one, implemented at slightly different location along the gravel berm.  Phase one was very successful at reconnecting the floodplain and improving riparian vegetation, wildlife and aquatic habitat.  Water from the Dolores River has flowed into the reconnected channel many times since phase one implementation.
