Project Description

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Monticello Field Office (MtFO) proposes to authorize the San Juan ATV Safari to conduct All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) tours on 14 designated routes, also called trails, in San Juan County, UT under a Special Recreation Permit (SRP). The permit SRP would authorize the San Juan ATV Safari to provide guided ATV tours during an annual three-day San Juan ATV Safari event for up to ten years. Ten of the trails are located in the MtFO and four of the trails are located in the Moab Field Office (MbFO). The requested event would occur annually on three consecutive days in September, based on a pre-event itinerary submitted by the permittee and approved by the BLM each year.

BLM will use the NEPA public participation process to satisfy the public involvement requirements under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) (54 U.S.C 306108) pursuant to 36 CFR 800.2(d)(3). The information about historic and cultural resources within the area of potential effect for this undertaking will assist the BLM in identifying and evaluating impacts to such resources in the context of both NEPA and Section 106 of the NHPA.
