San Rafael Swell Reassessment

May 5, 2026

An interactive map of the San Rafael Swell TMA, including the routes identified in the reassessment, is available under Maps – Interactive Maps. BLM officials invite the public to submit further information on the routes currently designated OHV-limited and OHV-closed — including information about the routes’ purpose and need, and resource considerations. BLM requests that, where possible, commenters include specific route numbers in their comments.

12/31/2024 (Old Decision Date)

The Environmental Assessment (EA), Finding Of No Significant Impact (FONSI),  Decision Record (DR), Final Route Reports, and updated maps and shapefiles are now available.

The interactive map at the bottom is an inventory of routes that were evaluated for potential inclusion in the San Rafael Swell Travel Management Plan. It does not imply that those roads are available for use under the current Resource Management Plan's travel management decisions. This is an older map that was used to gather comments during public scoping in 2021.

Here is a link to the preliminary alternatives that were released on February 22, 2024. This interactive map is for reference only as the draft alternatives are slightly different after input from cooperating agencies and development of the Draft EA.

Here is a link to the Draft Story Map that was released on June 6th, 2024 and available for public use during the public comment period.  https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/26c415c407d743ab940b254f4cd4e156 This interactive map is for reference only as the final Story Map link that provide information about the final decision is listed above.
