BLM seeks public input on proposed powerline reroute
MOAB, Utah – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public input on a proposal to reroute a portion of an existing transmission line along Kane Creek Blvd in Grand County, Utah. The 30-day public scoping period starts today and lasts through July 16, 2026. The BLM will hold an in-person public meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Moab Field Office to present an overview of the proposed project, answer questions and provide an opportunity for the public to submit written comments.
Rocky Mountain Power proposes to reroute a portion of the existing Moab Salt 69kV Tap transmission line to accommodate development plans and ease current operations and maintenance difficulties due to the difficult terrain. The existing alignment runs parallel to Kane Creek Blvd. until Moonflower Canyon where it crosses the hillside until rejoining Kane Creek Blvd. at Pritchet Canyon. The realignment would move the line to the east shoulder of Kane Creek Blvd.
“We appreciate the public’s input on proposed projects, especially as it pertains to resource impacts. Community insight is invaluable during the planning process. Information and feedback provided during the scoping period helps inform the BLM’s decision. We want to hear from you,” said Acting Moab Field Office Manager Todd Murdock.
