To comply with a Preliminary Injunction entered on Sept. 21, 2018, by the District Court, the BLM is extending the comment period through through Nov. 9, 2018, for 578 parcels in Greater Sage-grouse habitat. These parcels will now be analyzed as part of a supplemental sale expected to occur in February 2019. The BLM initially released the analysis for a 14-day comment period on Aug. 29, 2018. ***ANNOUNCEMENT***  BLM to offer three parcels in December lease sale: The BLM plans to offer three parcels totaling about 720 acres at its December quarterly oil and gas lease sale. We will publish the sale notice for this sale on Friday, Oct. 26, initiating a 10-day public protest period that ends on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. To comply with a Preliminary Injunction entered Sept. 21, 2018, by the U.S. District Court, District of Idaho [W. Watersheds Project v. BLM, No. 1:18-cv-00187-REB, 2018 U.S. Dist. (D. Idaho Sept. 21, 2018)], this sale does not include 578 parcels that intersect with Greater Sage-grouse priority and general habitat management areas.

Responsible energy development includes thoughtful consideration of parcels nominated for leasing as well as potential resource impacts of decisions to lease. An additional environmental review will take place at the application for permit to drill stage, where site-specific conditions of approval are placed on permits in addition to lease stipulations.

Protests must be submitted in writing by hand-delivery, mail or fax to the BLM Wyoming State Office, 5353 Yellowstone Drive, Cheyenne, WY 82009, by 4 p.m. on Nov. 5.
