The BLM Southern Nevada District Office has published Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and the Proposed Resource Management Plan (RMP) Amendment for the proposed GridLiance West Core Upgrades Transmission Line Project in Clark and Nye Counties, Nevada. The 30-day protest period opened February 27, 2026. The Final EIS, RMP Amendment and supporting documents can be found under the “Documents” section on the left side of this webpage.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a Notice of Availability (NOA) in the Federal Register on February 27, 2026 announcing the release of the GridLiance West Core Upgrades Transmission Project's Final EIS and Proposed RMP Amendment. The publication of EPA's NOA marks the beginning of a 30-day protest period related to the Proposed RMP Amendment.
Those who participated in the planning process and have an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed RMP Amendment may file a plan protest electronically starting on February 27, 2026. April 19, 2024 - DRAFT EIS AND RMP AMENDMENT AVAILABILITY
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Southern Nevada District Office is seeking public input on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed 230-kilovolt (kV) or 500-kV GridLiance West Core Upgrades Transmission Line Project in Clark and Nye counties, Nevada. The project aligns with the Biden-Harris administration’s focus on siting infrastructure in an environmentally responsible manner to support a fully carbon-free electricity sector by 2035.
Meeting Dates/Times and Registration

- An in-person meeting is on May 9, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT at the Pahrump Nugget Casino, 681 NV-160, Pahrump, NV, 89048. The meetings will offer information about the project and the comment period, which lasts 90 days.
“Public input during the National Environmental Policy Act process is critical as we continue to evaluate the proposed project,” said Nicholas Pay, Pahrump Field Office Manager. “The type of comments that would be most helpful during the comment period include those identifying potential local concerns and opportunities related to the proposed project and alternatives analyzed in the Draft EIS, such as impacts on wildlife, recreational activities, or other public land uses.”
The GridLiance West Core Upgrades Transmission Line Project proposes to amend portions of existing right-of-way grants to construct, operate, maintain, and decommission approximately 155 miles of transmission system upgrades across approximately 4,900 acres of federal public lands in Nye and Clark Counties, Nevada.
The BLM will accept written public comments through July 18, 2024. Substantive comments that identify factual errors, data gaps, relevant methods or scientific studies are the most helpful.
