Previously:

NEPA Scoping Stage, March-April 2023. The 30-day public scoping period was open March 2 through April 3, 2023. Public comments during the NEPA Scoping Stage will help the BLM develop the environmental assessment by identifying issues and concerns, alternatives, and additional information for the Plan and environmental consequences analysis.

Two Virtual Zoom meetings to provide project information were held on March 7 and March 8, 2023.

Public comments are particularly requested on the following:

  •     The type of access the routes would be managed to provide
  •     Potential effects on the natural and human environment
  •     Priorities for implementation
  •     Maintenance and improvement projects
  •     Signing, gates, cattleguards and wayside facilities, use restrictions
  •     Trailheads, staging areas for public access, recreation activity sites
  •     Restoration projects
  •     Potential partnership opportunities

Initial Public Input Period, October-November 2022.  The initial public input period on land use activities, access needs and sensitive areas occurred October 12 to November 17, 2022.  Two virtual public meetings were held to provide an overview of the project and the planning area. Public input received by the BLM during the initial Public Input Stage were used, along with the current management plan decisions and available information, to identify preliminary access and transportation management alternatives. This information is shown on the Preliminary Alternatives maps in the ‘Maps’ folder.
