This feature class represents alternative developement for the Uncompahgre Field Office Resource Management Plan Revision. This revision is being conducted in accordance with NEPA Land Use Planning Handbook H-1601-1. The Notice of Intent was published in the Federal Register (https://www.federalregister.gov/articles/2010/02/25/2010-3846/notice-of-intent-to-prepare-a-resource-management-plan-for-the-uncompahgre-field-office-and) on February 25, 2010
Through decisions from other resources and a formal screening process, the coal resource potential area is further limited by both unacceptable and unsuitable for coal mining.
Unsuitable areas come from BLM policy and refer to things such as distance from graveyards and schools. This is also called screening.
Whereas unacceptable areas are resource decisions that vary by alternative. These data depict areas within the coal potential area that are unsuitable for coal mining.

Use:These data are provided by Bureau of Land Management (BLM) “as is” and might contain errors or omissions. The User assumes the entire risk associated with its use of these data and bears all responsibility in determining whether these data are fit for the User’s intended use. The information contained in these data is dynamic and may change over time. The data are not better than the sources from which they were derived, and both scale and accuracy may vary across the data set. These data might not have the accuracy, resolution, completeness, timeliness, or other characteristics appropriate for applications that potential users of the data may contemplate. The User is encouraged to carefully consider the content of the metadata file associated with these data. These data are neither legal documents nor land surveys, and must not be used as such. Official records may be referenced at most BLM offices. Please report any errors in the data to the BLM office from which it was obtained. The BLM should be cited as the data source in any products derived from these data. Any Users wishing to modify the data should describe the types of modifications they have performed. The User should not misrepresent the data, nor imply that changes made were approved or endorsed by BLM. This data may be updated by the BLM without notification. These data were digitized and edited from best available sources at scales ranging from 1:24,000 up to 1:500,000. These data are for general purposes related to Geographic Information System and mapping applications at small to intermediate geographic scales. Users are cautioned that digital enlargement of these data to scales larger than that at which they were originally mapped can cause misinterpretation.

alt_X - Signifies whether this feature is included in alternative A (Yes -Included in this alternative ) or not included (No - Either not included in this alternative or included in a different feature class). The X refers to the alternative (A, B, B1, C, or D). dataset_source - The name of the resource being addressed in this feature class. The purpose of this attribute is to tract this feature class as it is combined (e.g. intersected) with other feature classes. matrix_source - The name of the genre of the resource being addressed in this feature class. The genres in this case reflect the section of chapter 2 addressing this resource. The purpose of this attribute is to tract this feature class as it is combined (e.g. intersected) with other feature classes. adm_code - Reflects land ownership (BLM = Bureau of Land Management; NPS = National Park Service; PRI = Private; STA = State; LOCAL = State (Colorado Parks and Wildlife), County, and City Areas; USFS = US Forest Service SubSurRights - Federal mineral ownership (All Minerals = Federal government owns all minerals; Coal Only = Federal government owns only coal; No Minerals = Federal government owns no minerals; Oil and Gas Only = Federal government owns only fluid minerals; Oil, Gas and Coal Only = Federal government owns only fluid minerals and coal; Other = Federal government owns specific minerals) gis_acres - Acres calculated using Xtools Pro 's Calculate Geometry Tool and using UTM, zone 13 and NAD 83 as a standard.
