Abstract
This feature class contains Grazing Allotments and Pastures for the State of Colorado. It contains (mostly) BLM Grazing Allotments and Pastures. A few BLM field offices (that are co-located with the USFS) submitted Grazing Allotments and Pastures for both BLM and the USFS. The user of this data should be aware that not all USFS Allotments and Pastures are present in this data set. This geodatabase follows the BLM National Standard for Grazing Boundaries Sept. 14, 2009, Version 2_3
Purpose
To view and analyze Grazing Boundaries and Attributes for the entire State of Colorado in a GIS.

Lineage
Process step
DescriptionRequested allotment data from BLM Field Offices. Intial data was sent and recieved on April 22, 2009. At this time all of the BLM Field Office in Colorado sent data to the BLM Colorado State Office. The goal of this data call/request was so we could merge all of the Field Office data into a statewide dataset. We did not get around to this until July 2009. In July 2009 the BLM Colorado State Office requrested the data again from the Field Offices. Some Field Office sent updated data others that did not have any updated data did not. The resulting statewide merge is combination of the original data call in April 2009 and any updates that we recieved in July 2009.

Process step
DescriptionEmpty file based Geodatabase created based on Grazing Boundaries Implementation Guidelines National Standards, dated: Feb. 13, 2009, Version 2_2. BLM Field Office data populated into Geodatabase template. The Geodatabase template has 4 feature classes, only the gra_allot_poly and gra_past_poly feature classes are populated at this time. Field Offices did not send historic polygon data or pasture line data, so that is why these feature classes are empty. National Standard Attribute Fields were populated during the statewide merge process. These attributes consisted of the feature Name and feature Number. All Field Office Attributes that were non-standard were appended on the the end of the attribute table. Original Field Office attribute fields are prefixed by contributing Field Office acronym followed by the attribute field name that the Field Office originally created. In some cases Field Office data had to be dissolved by Allotment name to create Allotment polygons prior to loading the data into the National Standard template. Every effort was made to retain all Field Office attributes. If Field Office attributes are not in the gra_allot_poly feature class they should show up in the gra_past_feature class.

It will be stored in a directory called: co_blm_allotments at the same level and the geodatabase.
