The proposed action is to conduct a bait/ water trapping operation of wild horses in order to implement the 2009 PMWHR HMAP in June, July, August, and September 2018. The trapping would consist of capturing approximately 150 wild horses by band, sorting identified target animals and removal of 15-20 excess wild horses every 1 to 3 years in accordance with the HMAP retention and removal considerations. The action would consist of construction of traps at Krueger Pond, Cottonwood Spring, Bad Pass Seep, and Layout Creek. The traps would be constructed of portable Two-W panels, covered with snow fence, shaped in P, Q, or clover while in use. The panels will removed when the operation is concluded. All excess wild horses would be transported to Britton Springs in stock trailers, where they will be cared for, prepared for adoption and offered to the public. This action would begin in 2018 and remain in effect until conditions warrant a change.
