The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument (GSENM) is soliciting input on the Hole-in-the-Rock Road Repair Project for Garfield County, UT. Garfield County is proposing to repair deteriorating conditions of the road such as, erosion, down cutting, and flooding at ephemeral washes. Repairing the road would enable effective long-term maintenance of Hole-in the-Rock Road (HITRR) and protect GSENM resources found along the road.
Repairs are proposed for the 16 mile section of HITRR within Garfield County, UT (see Project and Analysis Area Map). The project analysis area begins 5.0 miles southeast of Escalante and includes the entire length of the HITRR (57 miles), which terminates at Lake Powell in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area within Kane County, UT.
