The CCSM Project Phase II Haul Road and Facilities, includes the second portion of the CCSM Project on the east side of the project area. The CCSM project was analyzed under a programmatic Environmental Impact Statement and the Record of Decision was signed by the Secretary of the Interior on October 9, 2012. In the ROD, BLM determined that over 200,000 acres within the CCSM Project Area are suitable for wind energy development subject to the requirements described under the Selected Alternative in the ROD.
Phase II portions of the CCSM Project Haul Road, water facilities, and laydown yards would be constructed. The Phase II Haul Road includes 59.3 miles of new roads. It also includes the establishment of three laydown yards Severson Flats, Junction and Sage Creek that are proposed be 4 to 5 acres in size each. Water would be piped to the water stations. Piping would be done utilizing High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) or Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic pipes between 2 inch and 8 inch in diameter. These pipelines may be above-ground or buried depending upon the location and timing of construction.
