The Pershing County Road Department (PCRD) has requested two new Free-Use Permits for the Twin Buttes Well and North Snot Knob pits. These would be new pits. The North Snot Knob pit has been tested for suitable gravel under a prospecting permit with case file number N-90814; the Twin Buttes Well pit has not had any testing, but the PCRD believes suitable material is present. The material removed from these pits would be used for the construction and maintenance of county roads. Material would be mined using a front-end loader or backhoe and hauled using semi trucks with belly-dump trailers. The permit terms would be for 10 years from the date of issuance, not to exceed 5,000 cubic yards of material removed from each pit per year.
