This project is to propose a wild horse gather to remove excess horses and to return to a thriving natural ecological balance. The gather will start around October 18, 2012 and end about the 30th. The wild horse population is estimated to be 322 in 2012.

The HMA is south of the Salmon River, East of the East Fork of the Salmon River, West of HWY 93 and north of the Herd Creek drainage. It starts between 3 miles south of town and ends approximately 30 miles south of town and five miles east of Clayton. It is dissected by two major roads; Spar Canyon Road and Road Creek/Walker Way.
