The Coeur d’Alene Field Office, in cooperation with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), is proposing to construct a trail to the John Pointner Wildlife Memorial Sanctuary, near Cougar Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene, approximately 1 mile south of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The trail would be constructed using hand tools to a standard trail of 2 ft wide dirt path with most vegetation cleared to 4 ft on either side of the trail. The proposed trail would cross private and public lands and connect to the existing TNC trail system. The BLM would obtain an easement from the private landowner. About 250 feet would be constructed on BLM lands.
