The Big Foot Fire buned approximately 1646 acres of public land and 70 acres of private land to the northwest of Big Foot Butte in the Morley nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area (NCA). The ESR treatment includes the following activities:- Issue a grazing closure decision for the eastern most pasture of the Big Foot grazing allotment until grazing resumption and ESR vegetation objectives met. A small portion of the Sunnyside Winter allotment will be closed to grazing with the use of existing fence repair and new protective fencing.- Collection and/or acquisition of local ecotype specific sagebrush and winterfat seed is proposed to increase the likelihood of germination and long-term shrub survival. The iseed would be used for nursery grow-out of shrub seedlings.- Shrub and forb seedlings will be planted in the fall of 2012. Potential partners for shrub plantings include the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) and the Snake River Raptor Volunteers (SRRV).- Inventory and control of noxious weeds species including whitetop would occur in years one through three.
