Mineral Ridge Custer Amendment Environmental Assessment
The preliminary Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Mineral Ridge Custer Amendment is now available for public comment, through April 5, 2018.

The BLM has prepared this Environmental Assessment (EA) to analyze the proposed Custer Amendment to the Plan of Operations for Mineral Ridge Mine, located about five miles northwest of the town of Silver Peak in Esmeralda County, Nevada.

The changes proposed by Mineral Ridge Gold, LLC would extend mine life and employment. Changes would include expanding the approved Plan of Operations boundary by 1,396 acres (allowing work in different areas than previously planned) while only increasing the total authorized disturbance area by approximately 17 acres, including new exploration disturbance. Other changes include constructing an ore storage pad, mill, and potable water treatment plant; developing three pits and associated underground workings; expanding the existing leach pad and converting to a dry-stack tailings storage facility; and modifying existing waste rock dumps, crushing facilities, pits, and pit backfill.
