The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Sevier Playa Potash Project (Project), which would be located in Millard County in southwestern Utah. Crystal Peak Minerals, Inc. (CPM) holds, or through agreement controls, the rights to develop and operate potassium mineral leases on 117,814 acres of federal lands administered by the BLM and an additional 6,409 acres of state lands. CPM proposes to exercise its lease rights by constructing and operating the Project, which would produce at its peak approximately 372,000 tons per year of potassium sulfate (K2SO4), also known as sulfate of potash (SOP), and related minerals over the 32-year lifetime of the Project.

The Notice of Intent (NOI) for the EIS was published March 12, 2014, which initiated the public scoping period.  The project was then put on hold by the proponent on September 1, 2014.  When the project resumed, the BLM reopened the public scoping period until August 31, 2015.
