The Bureau of Land Management has reopened the public comment period and changed the date for this summer’s proposed oil and gas lease sale due to the issuance of the new Greater Sage-Grouse Land Use Plan Amendment on March 15, 2019. The Elko District Office has completed a revised Environmental Assessment (EA) for the June 2019 Oil and Gas Lease Sale, which can be viewed by following the "Documents" link on the left-hand side of this page. The EA is available for a 30-day review period starting April 7, 2019 and ending May 6, 2019. Comments can be submitted via mail to BLM, Attn. Tom Schmidt, 3900 E. Idaho St., Elko, NV 89801; or emailed to TuscFO_NEPA@blm.gov. The lease sale, which was previously announced for June 11, 2019, will now be held on July 30, 2019.
The Elko District Office (EDO) encompasses about 12.4 million acres, of which approximately 7.2 million acres are public lands managed by the BLM.  The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is considering offering up to 49 parcels, comprising about 75,005.71 acres of land in northeastern Nevada within the area administered by the EDO, in a state-wide competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale to be held in July, 2019.   These offered parcels amount to approximately 0.9 percent of public lands in the EDO.
