The GMT2 Scoping Public Comment Period ended on September 29, 2016.

Please read the Notice of Intent and GMT2 Project Proposal in the Documents section for more information about the GMT2 oil and gas development project.

On August 25, 2015, ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc. (CPAI) submitted an application for permit to drill (APD) to the BLM for authorization to construct, operate, and maintain a drill site, access road, pipelines and ancillary facilities to support development of petroleum resources at the Greater Mooses Tooth 2 (GMT2) drilling location. The proposed GMT2 drill site, road and pipeline routes are all on BLM-managed lands or ANCSA corporation selected lands.

The proposed GMT2 drilling and production pad is approximately 20 miles southwest of the ConocoPhillips-operated Alpine Central Facility (CD-1). The GMT2 drill site would be supported by permitted GMT1 infrastructure and existing CD-1 infrastructure.

The BLM published a Notice of Intent to Prepare a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on July 29, 2016.  This initiated a 30 day public comment period, which has been extended to 60 days.  The public comment period ended on September 29, 2016.  Two public scoping meetings were held on August 22, 2016 and September 27 in Nuiqsut.  The presentation can be viewed under the Documents tab.
