A 30-day public scoping period is currently open for 92 oil and gas parcels, encompassing a total of 208,576 acres, which may be included in a February 2027 lease sale in Arizona. This scoping period will conclude on July 29, 2026. These parcels were nominated in September and October of 2025 and are distinct from the 40 parcels which may be offered for sale in December 2026.

The BLM conducted a separate 30-day public scoping period from May 12 to June 11, 2026, for 40 oil and gas parcels totaling 78,708 acres that may be offered in a December 2026 lease sale. An environmental assessment will be undertaken to evaluate both the 92 parcels (208,576 acres) and the 40 parcels (78,708 acres).
