Project Description

The Proposed Action:
The State of Utah Department of Recreation in partnership with Box Elder, Tooele, Juab, Millard, Beaver, Iron, and Washington Counties, Utah, proposes to designate and sign approximately 810 miles of existing routes as the High Desert Trail. The BLM would designate the HDT as OHV-Open on BLM-administered lands, authorizing use by all motorized vehicles, and would create a framework for the issuance of SRPs for commercial motorized use and non-motorized competitive use of the HDT. Non-motorized use would be allowed on the HDT.

What's New

The BLM will be accepting public comments on the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) June 2-16, 2026.
