The Public Scoping period for the 2026 Third Quarter Competitive Oil & Gas Lease Sale begins on January 21, 2026, and will end at 11:59 pm on February 23, 2026.

A preliminary list, or scoping list, of parcels is posted on ePlanning for a 30-day public scoping period (43 CFR § 3120.42(a)), along with the overview map and a ArcGIS© Pro shapefile. The intent of the scoping period is to receive public comments to assist in identifying resources of concern. BLM analyzes these concerns and uses them to develop a range of alternative management strategies.
