Project Description

The BLM's Southeastern States District Office is planning to offer 15 parcels in Expressions of Interest (EOIs) at the March 2027 oil and gas lease sale, in Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi, 6 parcels of which are on split estate. These 6 split estate parcels will be analyzed in an Environmental Assessment (EA); the remaining parcels, one of which is on Department of Defense land on Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, and the other 5 on U.S. Forest Service land within the Conecuh National Forest in southern Alabama, will be covered under Determinations of NEPA Adequacy (DNAs), DOI-BLM-Eastern States-J000-2026-0014-DNA (for the Barksdale EOI) and DOI-BLM-Eastern States-J000-2026-0015-DNA (for the Conecuh NF EOIs).

The BLM's Southeastern States District Office is seeking public scoping input from 6/22 to 7/22, 2026, on the following 6 split estate parcelss that will be analyzed in an Environmental Assessment (EA). Six other parcels, one of which is on Department of Defense land on Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier Parish, Louisiana, and the other 5 on U.S. Forest Service land within the Conecuh National Forest in southern Alabama, will be covered under Determinations of NEPA Adequacy (DNAs), DOI-BLM-Eastern States-J000-2026-0014-DNA (for the Barksdale parcel) and DOI-BLM-Eastern States-J000-2026-0015-DNA (for the Conecuh NF parcels).
